Capital account statement to Excel.

Drop in the statements from your fund positions and get one reconciled table back, with the roll-forward recomputed and the line every figure came from.

Invented funds, invented figures

These are invented figures for two fictitious funds, so you can see what the tool does before dropping in anything of your own. Your first real statement replaces the sample.

The roll-forward closes: contributions less distributions, plus the result, less fees comes to exactly the 1,800,000.00 capital account the statement printed.

A folder of PDFs, read once. Wealth Management by Zahlenwerk turns it into a position that keeps up, across every entity, fund and quarter, with a review queue for anything it is unsure about. See the product

What it reads

A capital account roll-forward: commitment, called and contributed capital, distributions, realised and unrealised result, management fee, fund expenses, carried interest, withholding tax, the capital account at the statement date, and unfunded commitment. German and English wording, German and Anglo number formats, parentheses and trailing minus both read as negative. Where a statement prints two columns, the period and since inception, the since-inception column is taken, because it is the only one that can be compared to the previous quarter without knowing what the other column covered.

How it works

  1. 01

    Drop in the PDFs

One statement or a whole quarter of them. Files are read where they sit; nothing is uploaded.

  2. 02

    Every line is matched

The wording on the left decides which field a line is, and the tool shows you, for every figure, which label it matched on.

  3. 03

    The roll-forward is recomputed

Contributions less distributions, plus the result, less fees has to equal the capital account the statement printed. If it does not, the statement is flagged rather than quietly exported.

  4. 04

    Export

Excel with one row per position and a second sheet naming the line every figure came from. Or CSV formatted for a German Excel.

What this tool has not seen yet

Unlike the bank statement converter next door, this parser was not built against real statements. It was built against the field vocabulary our product already normalises to, plus the standard German and English wording. Capital account statements look different at every administrator, and there will be phrasings we do not know yet. So the tool does not guess: it recomputes the roll-forward, shows the label it matched each figure on, and lists every line carrying an amount that it could not place. When the roll-forward does not close, the cause is almost always in that list. A statement that does not add up is shown as not adding up. Nothing is estimated and nothing is smoothed over. Send us a phrasing we are missing and we will add it.

Your statements stay on your machine

This page has no backend. The PDF is read by JavaScript in your own browser, and the export file is generated there too. Nothing is transmitted, nothing is stored, and no account is needed. Load the page once and it works with your network off.

Questions

Are my statements uploaded anywhere?

No. There is no server behind this page. Your PDF is read in the browser tab you have open, and the Excel file is written there. You can confirm it by disconnecting from the network, and the tool keeps working.

Which administrators are supported?

The tool is not built for one administrator. It is built for the wording capital account statements normally use, in German and English. You do not have to take on trust that it read yours correctly: the roll-forward is recomputed and set against the printed capital account, and every line carrying an amount that could not be placed is listed. If a phrasing is missing, send it to us.

What happens with a statement listing every investor?

If the document carries the full LP table rather than only your position, the tool detects that and asks which row is yours. The column order it uses is the one our product uses for those packs.

Why the since-inception column?

Because it is the only one that can be rolled forward without extra knowledge. A period column means the quarter at one administrator, the year at another, and time-since-last-statement at a third; the cumulative column always means the same thing. The product makes the same choice for the same reason.

Can I do this across a whole portfolio?

Not here. This page reads a batch of PDFs, once. That is what Wealth Management by Zahlenwerk does continuously: across every entity, fund and quarter, with a review queue for anything it is unsure about, and a route from every figure back to the page it came from.
